Another Pet Food Recall

Not only is anther cat food being recalled it is one of the so called PREMIUM brands, that people are paying extra for. Read Purina ONE Cat Food Recall.

And yet again the word was gotten out by vigilant pet owners not the  FDA or the company producing the contaminated product.

Another recall - what's most shocking is that I did hear about this not through the FDA (not listed there) or even the Purina ONE website (not listed there either)...but emails via several colleagues, and a Facebook friend. This is form the PR Newswire, and confirmed

A significant part of the national pet-food bill these days goes for so-called premium and super-premium varieties. But "premium" has no legal definition in terms of nutritional quality, notes Sarah Abood, D.V.M., a small-animal clinical nutritionist and assistant dean at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

I think the important thing to take from this article is that Premium and Super Premium have no legal definition. Therefore you may be paying more for something that isn't worth it. Reading the ingredients listed and educating yourself is still the best protection your pet can have.
